Panel Discussion on Trends and Developments in the Semiconductor Industry 👥🗯️ Last Friday we had the honor to host a panel discussion on trends and developments in the semiconductor industry at our office. Among our esteemed speakers and guests, we were happy to see that more than 25 interested exchange students from the Seminconductor Talent Incubation Program (STIPT) showed up. Here's a brief overview of the highlights from the event: 🎙️ Our colleague Ms. Linda Blechert along with Mr. Julian Goldmann from the German Institute and Mr. Dr. Josef Goldberger from the Saxon Science Liaison Office Taiwan opened the event with warm welcome remarks. This was followed by three presentations. Firstly, Mr. Jon Y, also known as Asianometry on his YouTube Channel, kicked off the event with a short, but captivating presentation titled "What Makes TSMC Special". As several of his other videos specialize in “semiconductor lore”, as he puts it, he provided a well-researched, historical review and an exciting glimpse into the future of semiconductor manufacturing. Up next, Mr. Misha Lu, Lead Reporter at DigiTimes Asia, gave us an insight into the geopolitical context behind Taiwan's semiconductor industry and explored the implications of TSMC's global expansion, especially its impact on Germany. Lastly, Mr. Sascha Pallenberg, Blogger and Podcaster (MeTacheles), shed light on the significance of TSMC's investment for Germany's microelectronics industry, emphasizing the importance of overcoming "German Angst" and embracing new opportunities. 🗣️ Afterwards the panel discussion allowed our participants to delve deeper into the topics presented. 🤝 Following the discussions, our attendees had the opportunity to network with industry experts, share ideas and to connect, all while enjoying some delicious finger food. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended our panel discussion. Thank you to our speakers for sharing their expertise and perspectives, and to all attendees for their active participation, making the event truly memorable. 👋 Meet our DEinternational Taiwan Ltd. trade fair service intern Syun-Jie Chang l Uwe! Uwe is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in German Language and Culture with a minor in International Business and Trade at Soochow University. He started his internship in our office in June last year, in order to utilize his expertise and gain an in-depth understanding of the MICE industry in both Taiwan and Germany. In his current position, Uwe helps to organize the German and Taiwan pavilions at various trade shows, provide on-site services at the fairs, and creates content for social media posts and our website. During his internship, he acquired more knowledge about the German-Taiwanese business relationship. Recap of DMEA 2024! 🩺 What an incredible journey at DMEA 2024! With over 800 exhibitors and 19,000 visitors flooding the grounds over 3 dynamic show days, we witnessed a remarkable 10% growth from 2023 and an astounding 60% surge from 2022. 📈 A special shoutout to our 4 exhibitors, 5 delegates and the media house from Taiwan who graced us with their presence. Beyond the borders of Germany, DMEA 2024 delved into diverse topics, from patient care in Europe to the electronic patient record in Denmark and from sharing open data to unravelling the mysteries of AI in Europe. The discussions were insightful, paving the way for advancements in healthcare across continents. ⚕️🌎 In addition to exploring the vast array of exhibits, we had the privilege of visiting esteemed institutions like the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin Centre for Cardiovascular Telemedicine and the German Digital Health Association to gain insights into industry practices and future growth road maps. Today marks the end of our delegation trip in the field of e-mobility! What followed our networking event on Tuesday? Read our short summary!   Tuesday evening the delegation members embarked on a fascinating company visit to TSMC and its museum in Hsinchu, offering insights into Taiwan's cutting-edge technology and renowned semiconductors.   On Wednesday, the delegation visited the 2035 E-Mobility Taiwan trade fair. In the evening, an investors' dinner provided a special platform for selected Taiwanese companies to gain valuable information about the advantages of the German state North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). For example, NRW features Germany’s third-largest airport and is home to hundreds of suppliers of the German automotive industry. 🚗 The dinner also featured a testimonial from HAND Enterprise Solutions LTD., a leading software service provider that just recently invested in NRW.   Thursday's itinerary focused on an exchange with TSEBA, i.e. Taiwan Smart Electric Bicycle Association. Three companies, those being eTreego Co.,Ltd., ThinkTron Ltd. and Turing Drive, gave short presentations, highlighting their efforts in sustainable transportation. Afterwards a Q&A session and a panel discussion allowed the participants to gain more information on the topics. This visit was followed by a group visit to Advanced Lithium Electrochemistry, offering insights into battery technology. 🔋   The trip concluded on Friday with a visit to Gogoro, a pioneering company that is known for its innovative electric scooters and battery-swapping feature. 🛵   Throughout the week, the participants engaged in discussions and forged meaningful partnerships. We are certain that this delegation trip laid the groundwork for future collaborations in advancing e-mobility solutions and will further strengthen the economic ties between Taiwan and Germany.   We thank our initiator Germany Trade & Invest and the organizer NRW.Global Business for making this event possible.
